If there is anyone unperturbed by the growing number of opposition governors defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC), it is popular human rights activist and member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Aisha Yesufu.
According to Yesufu, having as many as 30 governors in a political party does not guarantee electoral victory, as she claimed that President Bola Tinubu would lose the 2027 presidential election. She made the assertion recently.
She said: “Bola Tinubu has already lost; that’s why he is looking for governors he can assemble to create an illusion of power.”
“Once upon a time, I think the PDP had over 20 governors; it didn’t stop them from losing the election when it was time for them to lose.”
“The fact is they don’t have the people. You could see it during their registration exercise – nobody was interested, nobody cared to visit their website. But with the ADC, you can see the kind of passion it has generated.”
