Nigerian singer, Peter Okoye, also known as Mr P, has recently made a controversial claim regarding the breakup of P-Square, the popular Nigerian music duo.
In a candid interview, Peter blamed Nigerian fans for the split between him and his twin brother, Paul Okoye, as well as their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye.
According to Peter, the tension between the brothers was fueled by fans, who, he alleges, contributed to the division by praising one brother over the other. This, he suggests, led to Paul misbehaving and ultimately fracturing the group.
P-Square, formed in 1997 by Peter and Paul Okoye, rose to prominence with hits like “E No Easy,” “Bizzy Body,” and “Personally.”
However, the duo officially disbanded in 2017 following years of internal conflicts and public feuds. The brothers had been managed by their elder brother, Jude, who also had a significant stake in their company, PClassic Label. The fallout was reportedly due to disputes over financial mismanagement and creative differences.
In his recent statement, Peter expressed his indifference to the public’s opinions, stating, “If you like, keep talking, I don’t care.”
His comments have left fans and the media stunned, as they reflect the deep personal rift that led to the end of one of Nigeria’s most iconic musical acts.
