Veteran Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Ego Boyo, has opened up on the real reason she stepped away from acting.
Speaking in a recent interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, Boyo dismissed rumours that her husband stopped her from pursuing her acting career.
She clarified that her decision was entirely personal and driven by a shift in passion.
She said; “I left acting when I discovered that I enjoyed producing more than acting. Acting became boring for me. The blogs tried to twist it, saying my husband banned me from acting. They wanted something sensational, but that wasn’t the case.”
Ego Boyo, 56, began her acting career in the 1980s and rose to fame through her role in the iconic 1990s television series Checkmate. She has since made a name for herself as a respected film producer and advocate for social change in the creative industry.
