Nigerian music legend and hitmaker supreme, Don Jazzy, has just dropped a jaw-dropping confession.
In a recent interview, the Mavin Records boss revealed that after the dramatic breakup of Mo’Hits Records, he almost threw in the towel and relocated abroad.
Hear him; “When Mo’Hits ended, I thought that was it. I almost packed up to move abroad. But friends encouraged me to stay and start again, and Mavin Records was born. Since then, I’ve learned not to let anything break me.”
For those who don’t know, Mo’Hits Records was the powerhouse Don Jazzy co-founded with D’banj back in 2004.
The label ruled the airwaves with stars like Wande Coal, Dr SID, D’Prince, and K-Switch, serving Nigerians hit after hit.
Sadly, the dream team split in 2012 following internal disagreements between Don Jazzy and D’banj.
But like a true phoenix, Don Jazzy rose from the ashes, birthing Mavin Records, home to today’s biggest Afrobeat stars.
From almost giving up to creating one of Africa’s most successful record labels, Don Jazzy’s story is proof that legends don’t quit, they rebrand and conquer.
