Though the Osun State governorship election has come and gone, the events that unfolded before and during the poll are likely to remain a subject of discussion for some time.

The election was marked by controversy, with reports of violence reported in some parts of the state. There were also allegations that thugs had been brought into the state to disrupt the electoral process.

The aftermath of the election has brought another controversy, with allegations of vote-buying levelled against the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking about the election, Afrobeats superstar, Davido’s father, Deji Adeleke, said he became concerned after hearing about the amount of money allegedly being spent by the APC to influence voters.

He said: “On the day of the election, when I heard about the kind of money they were spending, I went back to my little corner in my room, knelt down, and prayed to God Almighty.

“I said, ‘God Almighty, let people collect their money but still vote for Ademola Adeleke.’

“They spent N60 billion, as we heard. In some places, they bought votes for as high as N50,000 for a single vote.”

For those who don’t know, Deji Adeleke is the elder brother of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.
