Popular Nigerian preacher and founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has strongly condemned internet fraud, popularly known as “Yahoo Yahoo,” warning members of his church involved in the practice to leave.
Ibiyeomie urged Christians to distance themselves from individuals engaged in internet fraud, describing the practice as outright stealing.
The pastor issued the warning during a Sunday sermon at his church.
He said: “Do you know that there are Yahoo boys inside the church? They have no conscience. They Yahoo somebody and they are very happy in church.”
He added: “No matter how you put it, Yahoo is stealing. I don’t care how you paint it. Whatever you take that belongs to somebody else, that is not your own, is stealing. Yahoo is stealing.”
Recounting a case involving a professor who allegedly lost his entire savings to internet fraud, Ibiyeomie said: “Every money he saved as a professor, all his savings, was taken.”
He further warned church members against associating with people involved in Yahoo Yahoo, saying: “In case you are following such a person, separate from him now. Go to another church and give your offering.”
According to him, internet fraud has devastating consequences, including loss of lives. “Because you are killing people. People have died because of Yahoo.”
