Obong Prof. Engr. Moses Edem Akpubak has been conferred with the Fellowship of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), the highest professional honour in Nigerian engineering, capping a distinguished career spanning over 33 years in engineering and Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
Akpubak received the prestigious professional recognition at the 2026 3rd Quarter Dinner and Conferment of Fellowship of the NSE, held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, 38–40 Isaac John Street, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.
The ceremony, which drew top engineering leaders, industry captains, and members of the engineering community from across Nigeria, recognized a career defined by technical excellence, operational leadership, and sustained professional service.
A seasoned engineer and manager, Akpubak has held various technical, operational, and managerial positions with industry giants Mobil, ExxonMobil, and Seplat Energy, where his expertise in crude oil and gas production, terminal operations, offshore Production Operations, and safety management has been invaluable to national energy operations.
His engineering journey began at The Polytechnic, Calabar, where he obtained an HND in Mechanical Engineering in 1991. Driven by academic excellence and professional growth, he later earned a B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Uyo in 2008. His professional development has included advanced programmes in leadership, management, operations, process safety, and engineering at institutions and training centres in Nigeria, the United States, and Europe, including the Lagos Business School.
A COREN-registered engineer, Akpubak is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), the Nigeria Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NiMechE), and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
At the Qua Iboe Terminal (QIT), Eket, one of Nigeria’s most strategic oil export terminals, he served in several critical capacities, including Team Lead and Supervisor, Crude Oil Treating Plant; Supervisor, Crude and Condensate Exports Movement; Technical Training Coordinator; and Acting Crude Oil and Gas Exports Terminal Superintendent.
He also served as Offshore Installation Manager and Manager, Offshore Installation, at the Etim Crude Oil and Gas Production Offshore Facility, Eket, where he provided leadership for complex offshore operations and personnel safety.
His professional experience includes participation in key industry projects such as the Emulsion Water Treating System Project, QIT Power Upgrade, and QIT Storage Tank Upgrade Project, all of which contributed to enhanced operational efficiency, asset integrity, and safety performance.
Beyond operations, Akpubak has distinguished himself as a trainer and human-capacity developer. His official NSE citation states that he trained about 7,000 employees and contractors (Expatriates & Nationals) under the ExxonMobil Safe Choice Programme between 2019 and 2020, a remarkable feat that underscores his commitment to safety culture and workforce development.
The citation also highlights his involvement in professional ethics, quality and safety management, community leadership, and humanitarian activities.

Moses Edem Akpubak adds another significant chapter to more than three decades of engineering practice, leadership, and professional service – a journey gratefully supported by his wife, Obonganwan Princess Dr. Nkoyo Moses Akpubak.
