Actor Afeez Owo Opens Up On Yemi Solade’s Slap, Apology

Bet, many don’t know about a behind-the-scene tension between two Nollywood veterans, Yemi Solade and Afeez Owo, until Yemi Solade publicly apologized for slapping his colleague on a movie set.

Following the apology, Afeez Owo revealed that he had forgiven Solade and went on to explain the circumstances that led to the incident.

Owo said: “After seeing his apology, I let go of the incident. Even if he did not apologize, he is not at fault because it is like when an elder brother beat his younger brother. Even if the older one is at fault, the younger brother will be ask to apologize to the senior.

“I was the production manager then and he was an actor. As a production manager I’m to cater for the actors and crew members well-being.”

“When we were leaving the Ibadan location to another location at a Fulani resettlements area, I informed everybody to tell me their needs so that I can buy them along but it seems Uncle Solade didn’t understand me too well and slapped me when he was hungry.”

For those who don’t know, these were Yemi Solade’s words during an interview weeks ago where he let the cat out of the bag…

“Let me apologise to actor Afeez Abiodun who I once slapped many years back. He was the production manager of the movie, it was over 20 years ago but I can’t recall the year.”

“When we finished filming in Ibadan, there was a blackout. He was the one we would lay our frustrations on as the production manager. It got me infuriated because he wasn’t taking me seriously, and that slap came from nowhere, in the dark. I didn’t like that.”

“Afeez, I’m sorry don’t be offended with me. I have discussed the incident with people before now, but let me just speak to Afeez directly.”
