Popular Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh has found herself in serious trouble after coming under public criticism for conducting a deliverance on a schoolgirl on school premises.
In response, human rights lawyer, Ikechukwu Obasi has filed a N200 million lawsuit against her at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court. The suit was filed on behalf of the Rivers State-born JSS 1 student.
According to Obasi, the teenage girl was subjected to a ‘harmful religious ritual,’ and the footage of the act was shared online without her consent.
Obasi stated, “The circulation of the clip without the girl’s consent violates her privacy rights under Section 37 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Child Rights Act 2003.”
He demanded that Tonto Dikeh pay N200 million in damages, issue a public apology, and remove the footage from all social media platforms. Obasi further urged the court to declare the act a violation of the girl’s constitutional rights to dignity and personal privacy.
For those who don’t know, Tonto Dikeh had days ago shared a video of herself performing a spiritual deliverance on a schoolgirl during a visit to a secondary school in Abuja.
