Brotherhood Of The Cross And Star: A Religious Movement With A Mission

By Niyi Babade

“God has used today’s Evangelism in the city of Bradford to librate many souls, there has been great spiritual empowerment, spiritual upliftment, renewed strength and Devine peace.

Today we took our authority from the book of Mark chapter 16 verse 16 to 18.
We were able to win many souls to the kingdom as we give tracks and evangelized to so many people
” Brother Jessey Osim, the priest of Elephant and Castle in London the United Kingdom retorted while speaking with our correspondent in Bradford at the Evangelism meeting of members of the Brotherhood of Cross and Star.

The brotherhood of Cross and Star (BCS), is a religious movement founded in 1956 in Calabar, Cross River State of Nigeria by Olumba Olumba Obu. It defines itself as the new kingdom of God on Earth rather than a traditional church.

Olumba Olumba Obu, is the Holy Spirit personified, the God of all creation. Brotherhood of the Cross and Stars incorporates into Christian teaching ideas of incarnation and reincarnation and also advocates veganism.

With many members across the length and breadth of Africa, Europe, West Indies, the Americas and other parts of the world one then begins to wonder why the movement is not so popular and accepted across board like every other mainstream churches especially in Nigeria where it originated from, instead it is only visible and popular in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria with small mission houses in the the West of same country. This is the main reason people from other parts of Nigeria still refers to BCS as a “religious sect” brother Jessey Osim spoke further on this..

“The bible says My people perished because they lack knowledge this is one of the major reasons for today’s Evangelism and meeting, to propagate the faith and message of peace to the people, we have several lined up of activities throughout the year with which we intend to reach the people and win more souls to the kingdom”
