The Executive Director Kaduna International Film Festival and Vice Chairman Nigerian Film Festivals Association, Audu Kashim Israel earlier on Monday, February 17th, 2025 paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency, Archbishop Michael Francis Crotty the Apostolic Nuncio to Nigeria at the Embassy of the Holy see, Vatican. Abuja Nigeria.
The meeting was to discuss areas of collaboration with the office of the Apostolic Nunciature in Nigeria and the film and creative industry in Nigeria. Audu used the opportunity to intimate and inform the Apostolic Nuncio of the Nigerian film festivals Association activities, Kaduna international film festival and all its programs.
“We have used our programs to address different issues in our society like promoting peace, youth engagement, drug abuse, out of school children, domestic violence, insecurity, violence against women among others through film and we will continue to do so”
In his response the Apostolic Nuncio appreciated the founder of KADIFF for the visit and highlighted that part of my assignment in Nigeria is to support the local church in it’s activities and see how we can also support in other areas.
“Though the Holy Father Pope Francis is sick and we are praying for his quick recovery, as we are in the Jubilee year, yesterday the Holy Father celebrated Mass for the Jubilee of Artists and the World of Culture, Pope Francis called on creatives to be “witnesses to the revolutionary vision of the Beatitudes”.
He stressed they have the task of helping humanity not to lose its way”. Your visit is timely and I appreciate you for coming. His Excellency prayed for the founder of KADIFF as he wished him well in his activities and next task of assignment. “We look forward to further engagement” he added.
