Lagos Police Denies Hiring OPC To Secure Its Stations

The Lagos State Police Command has rubbished the story making the rounds that it hired the services of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) to secure its stations against hoodlums.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on Saturday, October 24th, 2020, made the clarification.

He said; “Contrary to a story in the news that the Lagos Police have hired OPC to secure their stations and formations, the command only enjoys dividends of community policing.”

“Members of some communities in Lagos State have volunteered to defend and resist destruction or vandalization of police stations/formations by hoodlums. They have stood by the police for most of the stations are products of community efforts.”

“The story is baseless and mischievous as the writer(s) didn’t contact the command or the affected DPOs for clarification. The general public is enjoined to continue to render necessary support to the command to boost Police/Public Partnership.”
