The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Lagos socialite, Afolabi Kazeem Micheal, popularly known as KC Luxury, in connection with an alleged cocaine consignment worth over N39 billion.
According to reports, the NDLEA seized the 184.5-kilogramme consignment from a courier company in Lagos.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, NDLEA Chairman, Buba Marwa said KC Luxury and Lawal Kehinde, an employee of the logistics company, were arrested in connection with the consignment.
Marwa said the cocaine was valued at $27.7 million, equivalent to approximately N39 billion. He added that the arrests followed a collaboration between the agency and the management of the logistics company.
According to Marwa, KC Luxury was arrested at the Lagos airport while allegedly attempting to flee the country following the seizure.
The NDLEA chairman, however, said investigations are ongoing to determine the source and intended destination of the seized consignment.
