Nigeria Police Probes Officers Receiving Cash From Chinese National

The Nigeria Police Forcehas condemned the unprofessional conduct of some of its officers after a viral video surfaced showing them allegedly receiving money from a Chinese national.

In a statement released by the Force Headquarters on Thursday, the police described the officers’ actions as unethical, unprofessional, and a clear violation of the core values and standards upheld by the Force.

“The actions of the officers do not represent the established ethics, standards, and core values of the Nigeria Police Force. The Force has zero tolerance for such unprofessional behaviour and other forms of misconduct, which undermine public trust and confidence,” the statement read.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the officers captured in the video have been identified and are currently undergoing disciplinary procedures.

The police also issued a warning to individuals and organizations that engage the services of police personnel particularly in roles such as escorts, guards, or other specialized duties not to involve officers in acts that could tarnish the reputation of the Force.

“The Nigeria Police Force cautions individuals and organizations privileged to the services of Police personnel to desist from any act capable of degrading the integrity of its officers and bringing the Force to disrepute,” the statement emphasized.

The Force reiterated its commitment to maintaining professionalism, accountability, and ethical standards in its operations across the country.
