Nigerian Government Bans Eedris Abdulkareem’s New Song, ‘Tell Your Papa’

These are seemingly not the best of times for ace musician, Eedris Abdulkareem as the Nigerian government has banned his new song, ‘Tell Your Papa.’

The Federal Government through the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), announcing the ban on Thursday April 10th, 2025, stating that the song is inappropriate and offensive.

The statement signed by the Coordinating Director of Broadcast Monitoring, Susan Obi, said; “The National Broadcasting Commission has identified ‘Tell Your Papa’ song by Eedris Abdulkareem, currently trending on social media, as content deemed inappropriate for broadcast following its objectionable nature.”

“It is therefore classified as Not To Be Broadcast, NTBB, as it violates Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code. The content is considered inappropriate, offensive, or in breach of public decency.”

For those who don’t know, the ‘Tell Your Papa’ song was released early this week.

The singer in the song urged Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu to speak to his father about the hardships faced by Nigerians.
