The ongoing war between Afrobeats stars, Seun Kuti and Wizkid shows no sign of ending anytime soon.
Seun Kuti, son of the late Afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti, made this clear in a recent interview, describing the rift as permanent.
When asked whether he had reconciled with Wizkid, Kuti ruled out any possibility, citing what he considers disrespect toward his father.
He said; “It’s on for life. I don’t have anything to say about him, but it’s on for life. You can’t speak about my dad like that and expect things to be fine, there’s no coming back from that.”
For those who don’t now, the fight began weeks ago during a livestream when a fan of Wizkid asked Seun Kuti to drop his nickname, “Big Bird,” arguing that Wizkid is already known as “Biggest Bird.”
In response, Seun Kuti pushed back, claiming Wizkid copied the name.
He said, “Wizkid stole my name. Tell your fave to be original. Why are you asking me to change my name? Sorry, I can’t. I’ve had this name for a long time – I came up with it first. I’m not dragging it with anyone.”
Reacting to the claim, Wizkid fired back on social media with a string of heated posts, writing, “I big pass your papa!! Wetin you don do? I’m Big Wiz every day.”
