The leadership crisis rocking the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has taken a dramatic turn, as the faction led by Tajudeen Baruwa has taken over the union’s national secretariat.
Drama unfolded on Monday morning when members of the faction stormed the union’s headquarters in Abuja to assume control.
For those who don’t know, the NURTW has been embroiled in a leadership tussle since 2024, involving factions led by Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, and Tajudeen Baruwa. In November 2024, union members elected MC Oluomo as National President.
However, the dispute was later taken to court, which ruled in favour of Baruwa. Despite the court ruling, MC Oluomo has continued to operate as President.
