Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Friday led top government functionaries and political leaders to pay their last respects to Mr. Sunday Kotor at his funeral service in Okwagbe Waterside, Ughelli South Local Government Area.
The late Kotor, who died at the age of 63, was the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Protocol. He passed away on March 20, 2026.
Among the dignitaries at the ceremony were the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, and the member representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Francis Waive, House of Assembly members, Commissioners and other top government functionaries, political associates, family members and well-wishers.
The funeral service, held at the open grounds of Okwagbe Secondary School, Okwagbe Waterside, attracted a large congregation who gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of the late public servant.
Delivering a sermon titled “Making Use of Opportunities,” Rev. Dr. Ambrose Akpotor described the deceased as a man who made the most of every opportunity that came his way and served diligently and with integrity under successive administrations.
The cleric said Kotor distinguished himself through his unwavering commitment to public service, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and associates.
He urged the congregation to emulate the late Kotor by making meaningful use of every opportunity and living lives of purpose, service and faith.
Prayers were offered for the Kotor family, with the minister encouraging them to take solace in the impactful life their patriarch lived and the enduring legacy he left behind.
