The Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation Nigeria, OIFN, in collaboration with the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation Network, OIF Network, is set to mark 10 years of service with a series of nationwide programs focused on mobility, inclusion, and family support for persons living with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, OI.
Under the banner “Empowering Lives. Building Inclusion. Creating Hope,” the foundation will host three major events between September 10 and 11, 2026, in Ibadan and Lagos.
The activities kick off on Thursday, September 10, 2026 with The National Osteogenesis Imperfecta Awareness & Family Support Conference in Ibadan, Oyo State. Scheduled for 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the conference holds under the theme “Advancing Care and Research in Osteogenesis Imperfecta” and “Hope, Strength & Resilience.”
Speakers expected include Dr. Ajibola Oladiran, Dr. Davis Gatua from Kenya, researcher Ifesinachi Triumph, Dr. Fatimah Ahmedu, Tarela Aghanti, Founder of OIFN Nigeria and UK, and others. The event aims to equip families, caregivers, and medical professionals with better tools for care and advocacy.
On Friday, September 11, 2026, activities move to Lagos with two back-to-back initiatives.
First is the Mobility Support Initiative from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The program focuses on “Providing Wheelchairs. Restoring Mobility. Empowering Lives. Building Inclusion.” Organizers say “Every wheelchair is a step towards freedom, dignity and a better life.” The outreach aligns with OIF’s 10-year mission of “Giving Back to the Society.”
Later that day, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, OIFN and OIF Network will host “INCLUSION MATTERS”, a summit themed “Equipping Ministers for Disability-Inclusive Leadership.” The event, with the overall theme “Hope, strength, & Resilience,” will feature speakers including Pastor Oladotun Akinyosoye on “The Inclusive Leader,” Pastor Oluwadunsin Olayefa on “Disability, Human Dignity, and Social Inclusion,” and Dr. Bishop Davis Catua on “Disability and Leadership in Today’s World.” Rev. Moses Olayefa will serve as Language Interpreter. The host is Tarela Aghanti.
The events are proudly supported by Souter Charitable Trust, ECWA, Clevenard, and Team Tiar Royals.
According to the foundation, the 10-year milestone is a call to action. “Together, we move lives forward. Be part of the change. Together, we build a more inclusive tomorrow,” the organizers stated.
