OYOSUBEB Reacts To Kidnap Of Pupils, Killing Of Teacher In Ahoro-Esinele Community

The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB) expresses profound sorrow and deep concern over the unfortunate attack on LA School, Ahoro-Esinele, and Community Grammar School, Ahoro-Esinele, in Oriire Local Government Area, which led to the tragic killing of a teacher and the abduction of some pupils.

This incident represents a dark and painful moment for the education family in Oyo State, and our thoughts and prayers are with the affected parents, teachers, and the entire Ahoro-Esinele community.

As of the time of this statement, the exact number of abducted pupils is yet to be confirmed, as security agencies continue search and rescue operations while working to establish full details surrounding the incident.

We fully understand the fear, anxiety, and emotional distress this situation has caused, and we wish to assure parents, guardians, and all stakeholders that the safety and wellbeing of our children remain our highest priority.

I, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, Executive Chairman of OYOSUBEB, in collaboration with the Honourable Commissioner for Education, wish to reassure the public that security operatives, under the direct coordination of the Commissioner of Police, are actively managing the situation.

A tactical response team has since been deployed, while all necessary intelligence-gathering and operational measures are ongoing to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted pupils and the restoration of peace and security within the affected community.

As a precautionary measure, the Board has directed all primary schools in neighbouring communities, including Surulere, Oyo East, Oriire, and Olorunsogo, to immediately suspend academic activities and vacate school premises until further notice.

This temporary action is aimed at preventing any further security breaches and allowing security agencies to fully stabilise the area.

We appeal to parents, guardians, community leaders, and residents to remain calm, vigilant, and prayerful during this difficult period. We understand your pain and concerns, but we assure you that no effort will be spared in securing the safe return of every affected child.

The Board remains in constant communication with relevant security agencies, and the public will be duly updated as more verified information becomes available.

At this trying moment, we stand united with the families of the slain teacher whose life was tragically cut short in active service. His dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to education will forever be remembered and honoured.

We also urge members of the public to avoid spreading unverified information capable of creating unnecessary panic or undermining ongoing rescue operations.

OYOSUBEB remains firmly committed to the protection, safety, and welfare of every child under its care.

E-Signed:
Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran
