The Lagos State Police Command, Ikorodu division has arrested three men, and place one Olaide Akanbi and others wanted over allegations of homosexual acts in Ikorodu, Lagos State. The suspects were identified as Olaide Akanbi 28; Noah Talabi 23;and Omotayo Toheeb 28 who are all at large. The command disclosed this in a statement on Friday, September 16, 2022 by its Police Public Relations Officer.
According to the statement, the arrests followed intelligence received by the command on September 14, 2022, about the alleged involvement of a group of individuals in what it described as “unnatural sexual conduct.” And their involvement in a Gay picnic club party at Cloud 57 lounge, Ikorodu Lagos.
The command said the Commissioner of Police directed the Monitoring Unit to verify the information and take appropriate action, leading to the arrest of the three suspects by operatives of the unit’s Operational Base, while some others escaped the arrests.
The statement added that preliminary investigations allegedly revealed that the suspects had engaged in homosexual acts, and this has made them place Olaide Akanbi and others at large wanted for prosecution.
“Specifically, two of the suspects reportedly confessed to having had carnal knowledge of the fleeing suspect on multiple occasions, with the latter allegedly regarded by them as their ‘wife’,” the statement read. The police said investigations were ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the allegations and determine that other individuals at large were connected to the case.
Part of the statement also read that Olaide Akanbi and his alleged partner Noah Talabi have been running from state to state to evade arrests, as it is established that the act can either send them to jail or get them killed.
Reaffirming its commitment to a professional investigation, the command said it would ensure that all necessary procedures were followed to arrest the fleeing members. “The Command assures the public that all necessary investigative procedures will be followed to establish the facts and ensure that appropriate action is taken based on the outcome of the investigation,” the statement added.
