Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed strong support for the governorship ambition of his deputy, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, following a formal declaration of interest.
The Governor disclosed that he received his deputy earlier, during which Hamzat officially informed him of his intention to contest for the top office in the state.
Sanwo-Olu highlighted their long-standing professional relationship, noting that they have worked closely for over two decades. He described Hamzat as a capable and committed leader with a deep understanding of governance and the developmental needs of Lagos State.
According to the Governor, Hamzat’s experience and exposure, shaped under the leadership of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, position him as a strong candidate to sustain and advance the state’s progress.
Emphasising the importance of continuity and stability, Sanwo-Olu stated that Lagos is too critical to be left to experimentation, expressing confidence that his deputy possesses the values and dedication required to further strengthen the state’s growth trajectory.
He added that Hamzat’s track record and commitment to public service would ensure the continued delivery of impactful governance for the people of Lagos State.
