The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday inspected the newly constructed Tolu Schools Complex in the Ajegunle area, ahead of its official commissioning in the coming days.
Barring any last-minute changes, President Bola Tinubu, is expected to commission the expansive educational facility, which consists of 36 schools built under the Sanwo-Olu administration.
The Tolu Schools Complex, located in the densely populated Ajegunle community, comprises 16 junior secondary schools, 15 senior secondary schools, and five primary schools. The facility is designed to accommodate a student population of over 20,000, making it one of the most ambitious educational infrastructure projects in the region.
Situated on approximately 11.73 hectares of land and bordered by a lagoon, the complex features modern sporting and recreational facilities, including a football field, basketball courts, and volleyball courts, alongside other social amenities aimed at enhancing student development.
Described as the largest school community in Africa, the project reflects the Lagos State Government’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to quality and affordable education.
Speaking during the inspection, which lasted over two hours, Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s focus on infrastructure development and improving the standard of education across the state. He emphasized that investments in education remain central to the government’s long-term development agenda.
The visit also drew enthusiastic responses from residents of Ajegunle, who turned out in large numbers to express their appreciation for the project. Students who briefly interacted with the governor commended the initiative, noting that the new schools would significantly improve their learning environment.
The Tolu Schools Complex is expected to be formally inaugurated in the coming days, marking another milestone in Lagos State’s efforts to strengthen its educational sector.
