A fresh wave of online fraud has emerged, with scammers impersonating Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Chairman of Access Holdings Plc, in a bid to lure unsuspecting victims into a fake investment scheme.
The fraudsters reportedly created a WhatsApp group titled “Value Focus Club 60”, using the phone number +234 915 708 8290, and falsely displaying the image of the Access Holdings chairman to lend credibility to the operation.
According to information made available, the group is designed to deceive individuals into believing they are participating in a legitimate investment platform. However, it has been clearly stated that the chairman is not on WhatsApp running any investment group, and Access Holdings does not offer investment advisory services through such channels.
A whistleblower who discovered the scheme raised the alarm, prompting calls for heightened public awareness to prevent unsuspecting individuals from falling victim.
Members of the public have been strongly advised not to join or engage with the group, avoid sharing personal or banking information, and immediately block and report the number on WhatsApp.
The company is said to be taking steps to shut down the fraudulent operation, but stakeholders emphasize that vigilance and information-sharing remain critical in combating such scams.
Authorities and financial experts continue to urge Nigerians to verify investment opportunities through official channels and remain cautious of unsolicited financial offers on social media platforms.
