President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Segun Aina as the new Registrar of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), replacing Is-haq Oloyede whose second tenure will end on July 31, 2026.

The appointment was announced on Thursday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. According to the statement, Aina is expected to continue the reforms introduced under Oloyede and further improve JAMB with technology and new ideas.
Aina is a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University and is known for his experience in examination systems, digital technology and public-sector reforms.
He studied Computer Systems Engineering at the University of Kent and later earned a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security, as well as a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University. He also attended the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.
The statement added that Aina’s connection with JAMB started during his NYSC days when he worked with the board and gained experience in admissions and data management.
At 39, Aina became one of Nigeria’s youngest professors of Computer Engineering and is now set to become the youngest Registrar ever appointed by JAMB.
He has also worked with examination bodies such as National Examinations Council (NECO) and National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), helping to improve ICT systems, examination security and digital operations.
