Africa’s Global Bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, brought the Lagos Marina to life on Monday with thousands of dazzling lights and joyful carols to usher in the 2025 yuletide season.
The well-attended ceremony featured UBA’s Group Managing Director/CEO, Oliver Alawuba, Deputy Managing Directors, other top executives, and select customers. The event was simultaneously celebrated across all 24 countries where UBA operates.
Following spirited performances by the UBA CFC Choir and the Lagos Community Gospel Choir, Alawuba welcomed guests and highlighted the significance of the light-up as a symbol of hope for the coming year.
“This event is more than lights and music,” he said. “We are a light unto the world, creating an environment of hope, joy, love, and sharing. Today officially marks the beginning of the Christmas season a season of love, hope, and joy.”
Alawuba also emphasized the bank’s commitment to charity. “We are starting to share love and support with our neighbors. Christmas is about giving, sharing, and caring. UBA promises to reach out to those who have supported us throughout the year,” he said.
The UBA Marina Light-Up, now an annual tradition, underscores the bank’s dedication to fostering positivity, reinforcing bonds, and spreading goodwill during the festive period and beyond.
