Popular social media critic, Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, is expected to be released today, Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), according to sources close to the matter.
The popular social media commentator was arrested on Friday, sparking widespread reactions both online and offline. His detention has triggered protests across several states, with demonstrators demanding his immediate release.
A source within the EFCC confirmed to us: “As of today, VeryDarkMan has not been formally charged in court. However, we are in the process of finalizing charges based on multiple petitions alleging cyberstalking and related offenses.”
The EFCC has indicated that formal charges are expected to be filed by Thursday.
