Ihuoma Julia Nneji, 34, the daughter of a prominent transport magnate, has expressed concerns after being declared wanted by the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF NCCC) for alleged criminal defamation, injurious falsehood, and cyberstalking. She was neither informed nor invited by the police before the declaration was made, nor were her legal representatives notified.
Nneji, who maintains that she has never engaged in any defamatory behavior, stated that the real issue lies in being targeted and blackmailed by her former partner, Henry Uzochukwu, who she claims is the complainant in the case.
According to Nneji, she met Uzochukwu in April 2024, and the two began a relationship. However, things took a turn in August 2024 when she decided to call off their planned wedding, which was supposed to take place in November 2024. The decision came after she discovered information about Uzochukwu’s sexuality that raised concerns, including the fact that he had been involved in multiple failed relationships with similar issues.
Nneji alleges that Uzochukwu had previously been engaged to another woman who called off the wedding a week before the ceremony, citing similar concerns about his sexuality. She further claims that during their relationship, Uzochukwu misled her and kept critical information about his past relationships from her.
Following the cancellation of the wedding, Nneji says she began receiving threats from Uzochukwu. She also alleges that he falsely accused her of running a social media account spreading rumors about him. Nneji vehemently denies these accusations, stating that she is the one being harassed and blackmailed by Uzochukwu, not the other way around.
Nneji further claims that Uzochukwu began to sponsor defamatory videos in September and October 2024 through two individuals, identified as VDM and Kemi Olunloyo.
According to Nneji, these videos were designed to tarnish her image and falsely portray her as the guilty party, while presenting Uzochukwu as the innocent victim. She asserts that Uzochukwu was behind the videos, providing VDM and Olunloyo with private information, including personal pictures and messages that were never made public.
In addition to the videos, Nneji claims that Uzochukwu has continued to spread false narratives about her, funding articles and social media posts that misrepresent her career and identity. She has filed a civil lawsuit against Uzochukwu, which is currently being heard in an Abuja High Court.
Despite the ongoing legal matter, Nneji states that Uzochukwu and his brother, Stanley, have not ceased their campaign to defame and harass her. She claims that the two brothers are responsible for orchestrating a series of online attacks against her, which have included false claims about her professional life and personal character.
Nneji also maintains that she had no prior knowledge of any police petition filed against her by Uzochukwu and was not contacted by her legal team about the matter before she was declared wanted. She strongly denies any involvement in defamation or blackmail, asserting that she is the one being targeted.
She concluded by reiterating that the matter is not between her and the individuals, VDM and Olunloyo, but rather a direct result of Uzochukwu’s actions. She further denied any involvement in the defamatory posts, stating that they were part of an ongoing effort by Uzochukwu to distract from the real issues at hand and manipulate public perception.
