The Kaduna International Film Festival (KADIFF) and StarTimes Nigeria have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening the promotion, distribution, and visibility of Nigerian and African films across the continent.

The partnership marks a significant milestone in advancing the African creative industry through strategic collaboration between one of Africa’s leading film festivals and a major digital television broadcaster.
Under the agreement, both organizations will collaborate in several key areas, including movie promotion, content distribution, branding opportunities, and the development of joint initiatives that support filmmakers and audiences alike.
Through the partnership, StarTimes Nigeria will support the promotion of selected films, movie premieres, and major highlights of the Kaduna International Film Festival. The collaboration will also facilitate the broadcasting of filmmaker interviews, documentaries, behind-the-scenes features, and other festival-related content across StarTimes platforms.
In addition, KADIFF will receive enhanced visibility and recognition at selected StarTimes events, creating new opportunities for audience engagement and industry networking. Both organizations will further explore joint projects such as film screenings, workshops, talent development programmes, competitions, and youth empowerment initiatives designed to nurture the next generation of African storytellers.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, representatives of both organizations emphasized their shared commitment to promoting African narratives and creating sustainable opportunities within the creative sector.
The primary objectives of the partnership include promoting Nigerian and African films across StarTimes platforms, enhancing the visibility of KADIFF as a leading international film festival, expanding audience access to festival-selected content, supporting emerging filmmakers, and contributing to the growth of Africa’s creative economy.
The agreement reflects a mutual vision of leveraging media, technology, and cultural exchange to showcase authentic African stories to wider audiences while creating meaningful opportunities for industry stakeholders.
As KADIFF continues to position itself as a premier platform for film exhibition, education, and industry engagement, the partnership with StarTimes Nigeria is expected to open new pathways for content creators, strengthen audience development, and further elevate the profile of African cinema on the global stage.
