Popular Nollywood actor-turned-politician, Emeka Ike, has suffered a setback as the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja dismissed his N10 billion damages suit against Lere Olayinka, an aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The court dismissed the suit on Wednesday, ruling that it lacked merit.
Delivering judgment, the presiding judge, Justice Salim Ibrahim, held that Emeka Ike had failed to establish his case against Olayinka and INEC with credible evidence.
According to the court, the plaintiff could not demonstrate how the defendants had violated his rights, adding that his claims lacked sufficient substance to warrant the reliefs sought.
Justice Ibrahim subsequently dismissed the suit in favour of the defendants. The judge, however, awarded no costs but cautioned against filing frivolous lawsuits that waste the court’s time.
Emeka Ike had instituted the suit against Olayinka and INEC over the alleged publication of his personal data in the electoral commission’s database.
The actor claimed that the defendants’ actions had caused him significant hardship and damage, prompting him to demand N10 billion in compensation.
He also sought a court declaration that the defendants’ actions were illegal and unconstitutional.
