These, certainly are not the best of times for Nollywood star actress, Iyabo Ojo as Lagos State Government has given her seven (7) days to pay the sum of N18,640,092.00 as personal income tax or risk jail.
This is contained in a letter to the actress by the Lagos State Government, titled; Personal Income Tax Matters – Assessment Notice For Income Year (2022).
It reads; “We refer to the Declaration of Income and Claims for Reliefs and Allowance (Filling of Returns) filed on our Etax.lirs.net platform for income year 2022.”
“Based on review of your returns and in line with Section 54 of the Personal Income Tax Act, you are hereby assessed to tax liability in the sum of N7,576,000.25 contained in the enclosed assessment notice.”
“Consequently, you have an outstanding liability of N1,264.092.00 for 2021 Income year. You are enjoined to pay a total sum of N18,640,092.00 to government coffers through any of the designed banks with seven (7) days of receipt of this letter.”
“Failure to comply with the above directives, this office would in addition to the tax due impose penalty and interest as provided for in Sections 76 & 77 of the reference Act.”
