Popular Nollywood actress, Wumi Toriola came under fire after attacking veteran actor and movie director, Afeez Owo, who had described her as a violent person.
Her reaction sparked criticism and backlash from fans and members of the public.
According to available information, the actress has been hospitalised, reportedly due to the emotional toll of the online backlash.
Wumi Toriola revealed this on Thursday via her Instagram page, where she shared a photo of herself lying on a hospital bed.
She wrote; “Internet dragging and ICU are siblings.I have heard you all, will do better next time. Wish me quick recovery.”
For those who don’t know, Trouble started after Afeez Owo, in a recent interview, claimed that Wumi Toriola often portrays her real-life personality – “violence” in movies. He added that, unlike Wumi, his wife (Mide Martins) is not as violent in real life as she appears on screen.
Afeez said; “Mide’s character in the movie is totally different from real life, but Wumi’s movie role is close to her character in real life. Violence is her comfort zone.”
“Wumi will react when provoked and she doesn’t take nonsense from anyone. But if you offend Mide in real life, she will remain calm.”
Reacting to the interview, Wumi Toriola, in a video circulating on social media, slammed Afeez Owo and described his remarks as “rubbish.”
She said; “Must every rift be taken to podcasts? They gave you a mic, and you started saying rubbish. After they entertained you with pepper soup, you started blabbing.”
“Am I a mad woman? If people don’t offend me, will I be angry? I have never insulted you before. I still respect you despite your unfortunate behaviour.”
