These are best of times for late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s son, Femi Kuti as he has been booked to perform at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) holding in Egypt.
The Organising Committee of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) disclosed that the Afrobeat singer will be performing at the opening ceremony of the competition on Friday, June 21st, 2019.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) in a post on its official Twitter page confirmed that Femi Kuti will perform the official song for this year’s AFCON alongside his African counterparts; Hakim and Dobet Gnahore from Egypt and Ivory Coast respectively.
It added that Femi Kuti will perform in English, while Hakim and Dobet Gnahore will perform in Arabic and French respectively.
