ASUU Calls-Off Strike After Nine (9) Months

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has finally called off its industrial action after nine months on strike.

This was disclosed on Wednesday, December 23rd, 2020. President of the Union, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi made the disclosure during a press briefing after ASUU’s ongoing negotiation with the Federal Government.

Professor Biodun said; “We are going back to strive for our students to excel. We are returning to classes and appeal to parents to work with us for the revitalization of universities.”

For those who don’t know, ASUU had been on strike for about nine months and the prolonged strike was due to government’s alleged delay in meeting the agreements reached with the Union.

It would be rcalled that ASUU had commenced the current strike in March, 2019.
