Popular Nigerian singer, Olawale Ashimi, better known as Brymo, has taken a swipe at some of his colleagues in the music industry, including Burna Boy and Davido, accusing them of stifling the growth of younger artistes.

In a post shared via his Instagram story, Brymo criticized what he described as the increasing trend of established artistes “jumping” on remixes of hit songs by upcoming acts.

According to him, this practice, rather than being a form of support, is harmful to the progress of rising stars.

He wrote; “Dear Nigerian mainstream A-listers, Burna [Boy], Davido and Co, stop jumping on every hit song in a remix, especially releases by newer acts.”

“Let other artistes find their own way. The pretending to be helping them reach higher is a ridiculous watch. Stop seeking relevance in the efforts of ones who know little about the business. It’s vile!”

Brymo’s comments have sparked conversations online, with some fans agreeing that younger artistes should be allowed to shine independently, while others argue that collaborations with top stars often provide much-needed visibility for upcoming talents.
