CBN Reassures Public On Banking Sector Stability

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has addressed recent publications and social media reports circulating misleading information about the operations of a regulated financial institution.

In a statement released by Mrs. Hakama Sidi Ali, Acting Director of Corporate Communications, the CBN reassured the public, depositors, and stakeholders that Nigeria’s banking sector remains strong, stable, and secure. The apex bank emphasized that the institution mentioned in the reports is fully compliant with regulatory standards, and there is no threat to the safety of customer funds.

The CBN highlighted its continued oversight of all licensed financial institutions through stringent regulatory frameworks, early warning systems, and risk-based supervision to swiftly detect and address potential issues.

The public has been urged to ignore sensational or unverified information and to depend on official CBN communications for accurate updates on the financial system.

The Bank reiterated its commitment to protecting depositors and maintaining a sound financial environment that ensures trust and security for all Nigerians.
