Delta Has The Best Crop Of Civil Servants – Gov. Oborevwori

The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has said the state is blessed with the best crop of civil servants in the country.

He said for a state that was created just 32 years ago, the transition to building a virgin land to a bustling state has been very impressive. The credited civil servants with laying the foundation for the various administrations to anchor their developmental road map.

Oborevwori gave the commendation at end of year party of the Association of Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries (ARHOSPS) in Delta State.

The governor who was represented by Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, his Senior Policy Adviser, noted an efficient civil service is the bedrock for the development of any state.

“From Benin City where everything was available under the old Bendel State to a virgin territory, you superintended the building of a new structure from scratch, you proved to be the best civil service in the country”, he said.

He pledged his commitment to building a motivated civil service which he is already actualizing by paying the arrears of all allowances.

Oborevwori also credited civil servants as partners in ensuring that new frontiers are broken in his administration’s determination to deepen the dividends of democracy to Deltans as exemplified by the successful deployment of Julius Berger to construct first class infrastructure in the state for the first time since its creation in 1991.

The events to mark the end of year party began with a thanksgiving service at the Very Rev. Omeni Memorial Church, Asaba.

In his goodwill message, Mr. Reginald Bayoko, Head of Service, said the quality of service from a civil servant is not in the length of service but in the quality of service.

He thanked the Governor for his support and creating the atmosphere for the public service to contribute its quota to the development of the state.

Among the array of retired top officials was Mr. Okey Ofili, a retired Head of Service as well as many retired permanent secretaries.
