Popular Nigerian disc jockey and musician, DJ Switch, has reacted strongly to First Lady Oluremi Tinubu’s advice that Nigerians should consider small businesses like frying akara, roasting corn and making kulikuli to cope with the country’s economic hardship.
Reacting in a post on her Instagram page, DJ Switch criticized the First Lady’s suggestion, questioning why Nigerians were being encouraged to focus on small roadside businesses instead of being provided with opportunities in technology and other modern sectors.
Expressing her anger, she wrote: “With absolutely no due respect Remi! Th**der fre you! While other nations are creating space and infrastructure to develop their people for this rapidly technologically advancing world, you want us to sell kulikuli? And the Otondo’s behind you are nodding their greedy necks! I can’t express how much I despise you people.”
DJ Switch’s reaction has added to the growing debate on social media. While some Nigerians agreed with her criticism, others defended the First Lady, saying there is nothing wrong with encouraging people to start small businesses.
