These, certainly are not the best of times for former governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dragged him into Courtroom 5 of the Federal High Court in Abuja for arraignment.
Obiano is set to face trial in a nine-count charge over alleged N4 billion fraud brought against him by the EFCC.
Sources squealed to us that the former Governor was escorted into the courtroom by more than 10 operatives of the EFCC.
Sources said Obiano was brought into the court premises on Wednesday, January 24th, 2024 around 8am in an 18-seater Toyota Bus and kept inside the vehicle for some minutes before he was moved into the courtroom.
Our sources said more than 50 lawyers are already inside the courtroom.
Sources said the officials of the court are already on standby. However, Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo who is billed to take his plea in the criminal charges is being awaited.
