The outgoing President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Hon. High Chief Emeka Rollas Ejezie, MON, has described as false and misleading the allegations recently circulated on various online platforms against his person and leadership of the Guild.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Amb. Cornell Udofia, Mr. Rollas said the publications were filled with unverified claims intended to tarnish his reputation and distract from the achievements of his administration.

According to the statement, Mr. Rollas initially chose to ignore the reports, preferring to focus on completing his tenure with dignity and ensuring a smooth leadership transition. However, he deemed it necessary to clarify the issues “for the sake of public truth and the integrity of the Guild.”

Financial Allegations

Reacting to claims of financial misconduct, the statement emphasized that all financial transactions under Mr. Rollas’ leadership were properly documented, audited, and presented to the relevant organs of the AGN. It described as baseless any insinuation that funds or donations meant for the Guild were misused or diverted.

National Honour (MON)

On the allegation concerning his national honour, the statement explained that the Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) award conferred on Mr. Rollas by the Federal Government was in recognition of his decades-long contributions to the Nigerian creative industry — as an actor, administrator, and advocate for Nollywood’s growth and welfare.

Property and Lifestyle Allegations

The AGN President also dismissed reports suggesting he acquired properties or funded an extravagant lifestyle through Guild resources. The statement maintained that his personal earnings as a professional, businessman, and creative consultant were entirely separate from the Guild’s finances, describing such insinuations as mischievous and unfounded.

Leadership and Unity in AGN

Addressing claims of disunity within the Guild, Mr. Rollas reaffirmed that his administration has always maintained an open-door leadership style anchored on due process, consultation, and adherence to the AGN constitution. He added that all appointments and recognitions during his tenure were guided by fairness and transparency.

The So-Called “Mini-AGN”

The statement also debunked the claim of a factional “mini-AGN,” stressing that the Actors Guild of Nigeria operates as one united national body. It noted that all cultural and community activities organized under his leadership were designed to promote unity and pride among members, with sponsorships and expenditures duly recorded.

Mr. Rollas reaffirmed his commitment to the continued progress of the AGN and the broader Nollywood industry, noting that his administration has worked tirelessly to strengthen the Guild and improve the welfare of Nigerian actors.

He urged the public to disregard the “malicious publication,” describing it as an orchestrated attempt to undermine the positive reforms and stability achieved under his leadership.

Mr. Rollas expressed gratitude to AGN members, partners, and supporters who continue to stand for truth, transparency, and the advancement of Nollywood.
