Immediate past Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano is in hot soup as officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested him.
He was arrested on Thursday, March 17th, 2022 at the Lagos International Airport moments after he handed over to Professor Chukwuma Soludo as the new governor of the state.
Obiano was said to be on his way out of the country to the United States of America when he was apprehended by the EFCC.
Be that as it may, speaking on the arrest, EFCC’s Spokesman, Wilson Uwajaren, said; “Obiano has been on our watchlist for sometime now. He had immunity as a governor and that is why we could not arrest him before now.”
“Today he lost the immunity and was traveling out of the country before we finally arrested him”.
Meanwhile, sources at the EFCC squealed to us that Obiano has been transferred from its Lagos zonal office to its headquarters in Abuja.
Insiders said; “He has been moved this morning (Friday) from our Lagos zonal office to our headquarters in Abuja for proper interrogation.”
According to the sources Obiano will be interrogated on issues involving allegations of corruption.
