First City Monument Bank (FCMB) officially commissioned a new branch in Sangotedo, Lagos on June 26, 2025, further deepening its footprint in one of Lagos’ fastest-growing corridors. The branch, located along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, is strategically positioned to serve individuals and businesses in the area, enhancing access to inclusive financial services.
The commissioning ceremony drew enthusiastic support from local leaders, traditional rulers, and business stakeholders, all of whom emphasized the potential economic impact of FCMB’s presence in Sangotedo.
Representing the Ogudu Oshadi I of Ogombo Kingdom, Oba Abiodun Ogunbo, Chief Lukman Lawal (Aro of Ogombo Kingdom) commended FCMB for its commitment to supporting individuals and enterprises. He emphasized the urgent need for quality banking services in the area and expressed confidence that the new branch would create opportunities and stimulate economic activity.
Similarly, Oba Mohammed Olufunmi, Olu of Sangotedo Kingdom, represented by Otunba Tunde Johnson, welcomed the Bank’s entry into the community. He encouraged FCMB to further expand its presence, citing Sangotedo’s rapid development and strategic importance.
Honourable John Ogundare, Chairman of the Eti-Osa East Local Council Development Area, described the launch as a major milestone for the region. “This branch stands as a testament to the growth and potential of our community. We look forward to seeing FCMB become a pillar of support for our economy and our people,” he said. He also urged the Bank to prioritize support for small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs), recognizing their pivotal role in local economic development.
Mrs. Yemisi Edun, FCMB’s Managing Director/CEO, represented by Mr. Emmanuel Comla, National Head of Sales, reaffirmed the Bank’s mission to promote inclusive and sustainable banking. “We are here to grow with the community,” she said, adding that FCMB is committed to providing flexible financing and bringing more people into the formal economy.
Mr. Comla also highlighted the strategic importance of Sangotedo, noting its proximity to key infrastructure such as the Lekki–Epe corridor, the Dangote Refinery, and the Lekki Deep-Sea Port. “Our goal is to connect people, capital, and markets, enabling inclusive growth and sustainable development,” he stated.
In addition, Mr. Ademola Idowu, FCMB’s Group Head of Operations and International Trade Services, emphasized the Bank’s dedication to operational excellence and sustainability. He noted that the new branch operates on renewable energy and is fully integrated into FCMB’s digital banking ecosystem, offering mobile and internet banking, reliable ATMs, and a smart queue management system. A solar-powered backup ensures uninterrupted service delivery.
