Famous Nigerian musician, Abass Akande, popularly known as Obesere, narrowly escaped death after being attacked by thugs in Ondo State.
The incident occurred on Friday, November 21, 2025, while he was performing at a burial ceremony held at the Government Field in Okitipupa.
According to sources, the thugs invaded the venue unexpectedly and unleashed violence on Obesere and his band members, causing guests to scamper for safety. In an attempt to protect the singer, his manager was reportedly stabbed with a broken bottle.
Obesere’s mobile phone, wristwatch, and gold chain were reportedly stolen, along with a bag containing money.
An eyewitness said; “I attended the event on Friday. It was truly a disgraceful act. A gang of local thugs attacked Obesere and his band while they were performing on stage.”
