Governor Matawalle Sympathises With Maru Emirate

Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle of Zamfara State, has sympathise with the people of Lingyado, Maru Emirate over the recent unfortunate event where five people were reportedly abducted by suspected bandits.

The Governor disclosed that he has directed the State Police Command to expedite action to ensure that the victims are rescued just as he has asked for proactive measures in averting such incidence elsewhere in the state.

However, Governor Matawalle expressed his dismay over conflicting media reports on what actually happened in the village pointing out a lapse in the process of information gathering by the media.

He said; “The media as the fourth estate of the realm must always endeavour to verify information from appropriate quarters before disseminating same to the public.”

It would be recalled that some media organisations reported that over 50 persons were abducted from the village on Tuesday, October 27th, 2020 which was not a true reflection of what happened going by Police report of the abduction figure of four people and the district head.

He said; “In any case, the government is on its toes to ensure greater vigilance in the quest to safeguard our communities. We shall continue to do our best to secure lives and property and make our towns and villages safe for our people”.
