That Guaranty Trust Bank Plc (GTBank) has sacked its three Executive Directors and six (6) General Managers is an established fact.

Insiders squealed to us that the shakeup exercise is to pave way for the emergence of the next Managing Director/Chief Executive of the bank under a Holding Company (Holdco) structure.

Sources told us that the outgoing Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, Segun Agbaje will decide whoever will succeed him.

Meanwhile, a couple of names have been thrown up as prospective successors including, Mrs. Miriam Chidiebele Olusanya, who is the Executive Director and Head, Wholesale Banking Division of the bank and Ademola Odeyemi, the Executive Director responsible for International Banking and Strategy and Group Coordination of the bank’s subsidiaries.

Sources said that with the recent happenings in the banking industry where Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe was appointment the Managing Director/CEO of Fidelity Bank, there is every likelihood that Segun Agbaje will look the way of Mrs. Olusanya to succeed him.

However, sources said a couple of factors stand in her way since Mrs Osaretin Demuren currently serve as the Chairman of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc and the first woman to hold the position. Sources added that no right-thinking bank would likely have two women as Chairman and MD at the same time.

Insiders told us that Segun Agbaje has confided in friends that only a man with grit and gut can step into his shoes in order to continue his onslaught against the debtors of the bank.
