Famous Nigerian chef, Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, is gearing up for another Guinness World Record attempt, this time for the largest pot of jollof rice.

According to reports, over 20,000 people have registered to be part of the record-breaking event, which promises to be a historic culinary celebration.
Originally scheduled to hold in Gbagada, the event will now take place at the prestigious Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos, on Friday, September 12, 2025.
Announcing the update on her Instagram page, Hilda revealed that the giant pot, specially fabricated for the attempt, has already been delivered to the venue.
“At 4 AM this morning, our pot was safely transported from Gbagada, where it was fabricated, to Eko Hotel, where the event will be taking place,” she wrote. “I’m still pinching myself – this is actually happening in less than 24 hours!”
She also explained that the change of venue was necessary due to the overwhelming support and number of participants:
“The love has been overwhelming. So many of you registered to be part of this historic moment, and our first venue couldn’t contain the energy! We’re moving to a bigger space so EVERYONE can experience this celebration with me.”
Hilda further encouraged those who may not be physically present to join the experience virtually across her social media platforms.
Adding a lighthearted note, she confirmed that the record-breaking pot is spotless and ready for use; “Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I personally rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself, thanks to my trusted @vivaplusdetergent. In just a few hours, this same pot will be home to thousands of servings of Nigerian jollof history in the making.”
With the stage set, food lovers across Nigeria and beyond are eagerly waiting to see if Hilda Baci can once again etch her name in the Guinness World Records, this time with a pot big enough to feed a city.
