Nollywood actress, Doris Ogala has apologised to Justice Akintayo Aluko over her conduct in court and pledged to maintain decorum as she continues to face charges of cyberstalking and defamation.

Ogala appeared before the judge at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi on Friday, October 30, 2026, for an accelerated hearing of her bail application.

The actress had earlier been remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre on Wednesday, October 28, following her arraignment on charges brought against her under Section 24(2)(a) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, as amended.

She pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Her appearance followed reports that she had failed to honour two previous court summonses, prompting the judge to direct her defence counsel, Marshall Abubakar, to ensure her presence in court.

During her previous appearance, Ogala reportedly caused a disturbance in the courtroom by shouting and singing “Solidarity Forever”, an incident that attracted the judge’s attention.

At Friday’s proceedings, prosecuting counsel, Tolulope Mokulu, and defence counsel, Marshall Abubakar, presented their respective positions on the bail application.

Abubakar urged the court to grant his client bail, citing her constitutional right to the presumption of innocence. He also gave an undertaking, supported by an affidavit, to ensure that Ogala attends all subsequent court proceedings.

Justice Aluko expressed displeasure over Ogala’s conduct, noting that her actions could have attracted a contempt of court charge and a possible prison sentence.

The judge said he had expected the defence to begin its plea with an unreserved apology over the incident.

Ogala subsequently knelt before the court and apologised to the judge, expressing regret over her actions and promising not to repeat such behaviour.

In his remarks, Justice Aluko advised her to exercise restraint and conduct herself with respect, reminding her that she had not been convicted of the charges against her.

The judge also noted that he had initially granted an accelerated hearing of the bail application as an act of judicial leniency.

After considering the arguments and processes filed by both parties, the court adjourned the bail hearing to Friday, November 6, 2026.

Ogala will remain at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre pending the next hearing, when the court is expected to continue consideration of her bail application.

The charges against her remain allegations, and she is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
