Popular Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan, has cried out for help following the latest hike in fuel prices.
The actor and businessman revealed that he spends about N11 million on diesel every month to power his KAP Film Village, despite having a solar power system installed.
Afolayan disclosed this in a now-trending video circulating on social media, where he lamented the rising cost of diesel and its impact on his business operations.
He said: “It’s not sustainable because even the diesel we have been buying was on credit. When we make a little money, we find a way to pay, and sometimes it takes two months before we can settle the debt and then get another supply on credit.”
The filmmaker appealed for financial support to expand the facility’s solar power system.
“We need a loan to upgrade our solar power. If you can come to our aid, I will really appreciate it,” he said.
Afolayan added that the current diesel price of about N1,500 per litre has become difficult for him to manage.
“I have been sad because I can’t cope with N1,500 per litre of diesel. I can’t even comprehend it. In one of the businesses we run, KAP Village, we spend about N11 million in four to five weeks. Even though we have solar power, we still spend a lot on diesel,” he said.
He further expressed shock over the sharp increase in diesel prices.
“When the announcement of the new diesel price came, I became sad. It moved from about N995 or N1,000 to over N1,500,” he added.
