I Was Erroneously Arrested And Detained – Doyin Okupe Opens Up

Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s former Senior Special Adviser on Public Affairs, Doyin Okupe has finally opened up on his arrest.

For those who don’t know, the former Director-General of Peter Obi/Datti Presidential Campaign Council was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) on Thursday, January 12th, 2023 at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

However, moment after his release, Okupe, took to his Twitter page and wrote; “I was arrested & detained @ the MMIA, Lagos this morning, 12th Jan on my way to UK for medicals; years after my passport had been withheld by the FHC Abuja.”

“I just left the EFCC office where Snr Officers in Lagos & Abuja appologised to me for the error.”

Besides, the DSS in a statement by its Spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, said; “Doyin Okupe was intercepted by the DSS at Terminal 1 of Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos this (Thursday) morning at the instance of the EFCC.”

“He has long been handed over to the Commission which requested for the action. Okupe was billed to fly to London via Virgin Atlantic.”
