Super Eagles striker and Galatasaray star, Victor Osimhen, has recently been the subject of criticism following Nigeria’s match against Mozambique, where he was involved in a heated exchange with teammate, Ademola Lookman over a disagreement on the pitch.
The incident sparked mixed reactions among football fans, with many condemning Osimhen’s actions.
However, former Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has weighed in on the situation, offering his perspective on Osimhen and his fellow attackers after Nigeria’s impressive 4–0 victory over Mozambique in the Round of 16 on Monday.
Speaking on SuperSport, Ighalo said; “Not every striker has speed. Victor is a different kind of striker from Akor. He’s the type of striker who likes to hold up the ball, bully defenders, and fight. If you watch the game against Mozambique, you’ll see that he constantly battles and, whenever he gets a chance, he takes a shot.’”
